Thoughts on upcoming election for grandparents!

Politicians have been irresponsible for many years voting for programs which are not authorized by the Constitution. See. Article 1 Sections 8 and 9

Consequentially the Federal Budget has grown from 100 billion dollars in 1960 to 3,000 billion now! Politicians are not content to limit their spending to what they take in in taxes or borrow by selling Treasury bills, bonds and notes to China, so they have been printing paper money at a seemingly imperceptible rate so it is barely noticed by citizens.

As a result your grandchildren will either be taxed at much higher rates or the government will print, that is inflate, paper currency thus wiping out the savings of everyone, in order to meet its obligations including interest on the national debt.

Only Ron Paul, Republican Congressman for twenty years, who has always been conscious of Constitutional limits on government, and the wisdom of the Founders to authorize only coining money in gold and silver, is qualified to deal effectively with the problems mentioned above, to reduce government, cut the budget, stop the inflation, bring home troops from all over the world, eliminate the income tax and thus the burden on your grandchildren!

I commend all the grandmothers' out there raising or continuing to stay in their lifes. I have had custody of my granddaughter since she was about 9 weeks and given permanent custody when she was 7 months old by Colorado courts. I even helped birth this child and she lived in my home from birth. Her mother, my middle daughter, started drinking and then got into methamphetimines, got busted for manufacturing the drug. Due to my youngest daughter and husband's domestic violence and their substance abuse, I made the choice in to leave them and move home to Michigan (where I grew up). It was the best choice I ever made, I suspect my daughter in Colorado of still lying about her life style. Her daughter doesn't know her, we stayed in Colorado until after Patience turned 1 years old and my daughter missed most visits or would show up at my house high....which she knew was a deal breaker. Patience is now 3 yrs. old and a wonderful, happy, loving child. I want to adopt her, Colorado DA says she is mine and I can take her wherever I want to, but I want to adopt her. Though, she knows I am nana she chooses to call me mommy. The only time her mother really talks to her is when Patience calls...does anyone know my next step?
Any advise would be appreciated.Please does anybody know what steps I need to take....12_11_2007 God Bless!!

Grandson in KY and problems

I just found this board! Boy, am I glad. Thank you all!!! We have had our 4 yr old grandson since Jan 2007-courts granted us temporary custody. The reason was/is dependency. He is somewhat developing delayed. To-date, he is not completely potty trained. My daughter is on the low side of "normal" IQ. Both reside with my husband and I. The father has left numerous times for other women in the past. My daughter also has been determined to be a potential victim of domestic violence by her husband. My husband and I have "rescued" the two (mother and grandson) over the last four yrs it is not even funny. Almost every month we have been in court for the grandchild. The father has moved on (yes, there is a pending divorce from my daughter) with another woman who has a newborn. He has stated in court that he is supporting the new woman and her child but not one cent for his own son's support. Our grandson has told us that he has a new baby brother. How do we address this issue? I am open to options. There have two blogs on myspace, by the father, ripping me apart, claiming I pay off people (we do pay our attorney) and even social service workers; always lying even to his own family. All I think I can do is provide documentation to our attorney and let the courts handle it. We are going after is de facto parenting and have yet another court date Jan 08. I am so sorry for the rambling. Please any input would be helpful and read with great attention.

Today, there are more than 80 million grandparents in the U.S., and more than half of those belong to the baby boomer generation. They are likely to be busiermany work full or part-timebut they are also healthier and more active, and spending time with their grandchildren is a high priority.

An increasing number of these highly engaged grandparents are noticing and taking action when they spot an early motor delay. They are particularly adept at identifying developmental milestones because theyve raised their own children and know if a babys movements dont look quite right. They also trust their instincts and arent afraid to bring up issues to medical professionals, making an invaluable difference in childrens lives.

Today, one in 40 children is born with an early motor delay, and each year more than 400,000 U.S. children are at risk. The term early motor delay describes a wide variety of conditions, ranging from low muscle tone to cerebral palsy. If untreated, these delays can lead to difficulty walking, talking and even eating. The good news is that most cases are not serious, and with physical therapy and a strategy of tummy time while awake, most children can catch up quickly.

Financial Help to Kids

I'm thrilled that my kids are married (love the in law kids), but due to today's expensive world, they often need significant financial help. While I'd love to be able to help more, we find ourselves downsizing so that we can help them. Not really complaining, I feel lucky to have now 6 instead of 3 kids and six lovely grandkids, and I really don't feel my kids are irresponsible, but just wondering how many of you experience this same difficulty at a time in our lives when we should be thinking of saving, not spending, for retirement?

Critically Ill Grandbaby

I need help in how to deal with the grief I am dealing with. My grandson was born 2 weeks ago with criticall heart problems. And his parents are desiding to take him off of meds. I haven't & don't want to interfere, so how do I deal with their choices. I love my new grandson extremely, but others say I shouldn't be attached too him because of his condition. He has a older brother too whom I love also. Please help me find a way to deal with the heartache of this whole situation properly.

Our grandson has passed away. On July 29, 2007 by choice of his parents. It was the worst day of our lives. As we were told by our son to be at the hospital at 5pm so that us & her parents were with them. At 6:09pm our son & his ex finally show up. Then the gong show proceeded, needless to say her mother ruled the whole thing, it was all about their family. A circus of photographers from 7pm on. Then at 9:40pm my sons ex girlfriend said we weren't needed & our son didn't say a word to suggest we stay. This was all done because I didn't want my picture taken with my grandson on the day of his death. Needless to say we have no idea when we might see our 1 year old grandson again, as everytime we don't do what she wants we are punished. Her parents support her because they don't like to see us with our grandson. I pray other grandparents don't have to live like this. God Bless You All!

different grandbabies, different rules...

We have 2 grandbabies, both nearly a year old. Our daughter and son-in-law welcome us as grandparents, while our son and daughter-in-law want us to be a part of their babe's life (which is a good thing...), but only if we follow their rules and regulations. In other words, when we visit, I feel like I'm walking on egg shells in case I do something they don't approve of and a couple of times, I've nearly lost my own common sense under the pressure of their (especially daughter-in-law's) scrutiny.. I know that new parents can feel quite possessive and anxious, but...I don't like feeling like a 'nannie' not a nana when I'm near baby. Any suggestions??
